STATE SERIES COMPETITION – KARTING TASMANIA STATEWIDE SERIES – 2022 

GENERAL REGULATIONS – awaiting final approval from Karting Australia

1) GENERAL
a) These Regulations are for the Karting Tasmania Statewide Series (Series) Competitions conducted under the authority of Karting Tas.
b) The following Events will for part of the Series:

i) Round 1 19 – 20 February 2022 Launceston Kart Club
ii) Round 2 5 – 6 March 2022 Circular Head Kart Club
iii) Round 3 23 – 24 July 2022 Southern Tasmanian Kart Club
iv) Round 4 13 – 14 August 2022 North Western Kart Club

c) Each round is a two (2) day, standalone Meeting.
d) Iit is not permitted to conduct any Competition of any type in Tasmania on the same day as a State Series Competition.
e) A Class and/or Division must have a minimum of five (5) entries to constitute a Class and/or Division.
f) A Class and/or Division must run at a minimum of three (3) round of the Series to be eligible for Prizes and Awards.
g) Each Driver must have a minimum of a D Grade Licence to compete in the State Series, subject to the requirements on the relevant Class Rules.
h) The Track will be closed from 12:00am on the Monday through to 7:00am Saturday prior to the commencement of the Meeting

2) CLASSES
a) The following Classes and/or Division must be eligible to Compete at each Round of the Series:

b) The following Classes and/or Divisions may be Consolidated to compete on track at the same time:
i) TaG 125 Restricted Heavy / KA4 Masters
ii) TaG 125 Restricted Light / TaG 125 Restricted Medium.

3) TYRES
a) Only the Dry and Wet Weather tyres prescribed in the Rules for the relevant Class/Division are permitted to be used.
b) For each Class/Division other that TaG 125 – Championship, the following additional requirements will apply:
i) From the commencement of Qualifying, each Competitor is permitted to use a maximum of one (1) set of dry weather tyres for two (2) rounds of the Series in accordance with the following:
• Rounds 1 and 2: One (1) set of Dry Tyres (plus one (1) replacement Dry Tyre in accordance with the Rules); and
• Rounds 3 and 4: One (1) set of Dry Tyres, (plus one (1) replacement Dry Tyre in accordance with the Rules).
ii) Wet Weather Tyre requirements are in accordance with the respective Class Rules.
4) DROP DOWN BUMPER BARS
a) Drop down bumper bars will be used for all Rounds of the Series as per Technical Rules, Chapter 1, Rule 8 g)

5) ENTRY FEE
a) The Entry Fee for each Round of the Series are as follows:
i) First Entry Fee: $80.00 for each Class/Division
ii) Second and subsequent Entry Fees: $40.00 for each Class/Division entered by the same Competitor.
b) The terms and method of payment will be stipulated in the Supplementary Regulations for the Meeting. Payment will not be accepted at the Meeting.
c) The Entry Fee must be received to confirm a competitor’s entry to the Meeting.

6) FORMAT – ROUND 1

a) Practice
i) There will be a minimum of two (2) practice sessions for each Class/Division at each Round of the Series and must be included in the Supplementary Regulations.
ii) Each Practice session will be six (6) minutes in duration for each Class/Division.
b) Qualifying
i) There will be one (1) Qualifying session, which must be a minimum of six (6) minutes in duration for each Class/Division.
ii) The duration of the Qualifying session must be stipulated in the Supplementary Regulations.
iii) The Kart order on the Out Grid for the commencement of Qualifying must be random.
iv) Qualifying and Racing will commence on the Saturday of the Event.
c) Grid Procedure
i) Race 1 and Race 2: Grid positions will be in the accordance with the results of Qualifying, with the fastest Qualifier on Pole Position and so on.
ii) Race 3: Grid positions will be the highest accumulated points from Race 1 and Race 2 will start on Pole Position and so on. In the event of a tie, on points it will then revert, back to the competitor with the fastest qualifying time.
iii) Race 4: Grid positions will be the highest accumulated points from Race 1, Race 2 and Race 3 will start on Pole Position and so on. In the event of a tie, on points it will then revert, back to the competitor with the fasted qualifying time.
d) Race Format
i) Race 1 will be 14 Laps in duration.
ii) Race 2 will be 14 Laps in duration.
iii) Race 3 will be 14 Laps in duration.
iv) Race 4 will be 14 Laps in duration.
v) The distances listed above may be increased or decreased at the discretion of the Organising Club with the prior approval of Karting Tas.
e) Round 2, Round 3 and Round 4 of the Series
i) Round 2 – Races, 5, 6 ,7 and 8, Round 3 – Races 9,10, 11 and 12 and Round 4 – Races 13, 14, 15 and 16 will be the same format as Round 1, just that the Race numbers will change.
f) Round Winners
The winner of each Round of the Series will be determined on points. The Driver with the highest overall points on the day will be the winner in their respective Class/Division and will, be calculated using the 401 less 10% points system. In the event of a tie on points it will revert back to the Driver with the fastest qualifying time.

7) PRIZES AND AWARDS
a) Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in each Class/Division at each Round of the Series by the Organising Club.
b) Karting Tas will supply the trophies for each Club for all Rounds of the Series. The Organising Clubs may award additional trophies or awards the cost of which will be borne by the Club.
c) For each Class/Division which is consolidated to compete on the Track at the same time, points will be awarded based on finishing order of each Class/Division, not overall finishing order.
d) Series Prizes and Awards will be supplied by Karting Tasmania and will be presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each Class/Division.

8) SERIES POINTS
a) The Series point score outlined below will be used to determine the results at each Round of the Series. DNS and DSQ will receive zero (0) points and DNF will receive the Class + 1 points place
b) These points will count towards the point score for Prizes and Awards
c) The Series classification in each Class/Division will be determined as follows:
i) 1st based on the highest accumulated points across all four (4) Rounds in each Class/Division.
ii) 2nd based on the second highest accumulated points across all four (4) Rounds in each Class/Division and so on.
d) At the end of the Series a Driver’s lowest scoring two (2) Races will be dropped from the point score of the Series. If a Driver is Disqualified from a Race, or fails to start a Race, this Race can not be considered as the Driver’s lowest scoring Race in the final Series Points.
e) All Points will be compiled at the end of each Series Round by the Series Points Coordinator, Jade Stone. Any queries in regards, to points is to be directed in writing to a Driver’s Home Club.
f) Series Points once complied at the end of each Round will be published on the Karting Tas Website: www.kartingtas.net.au
